Prior to becoming a writer and cultural critic I worked as a philosophy lecturer at an English university.
I entered academia as a mature student, and spent almost a decade gaining a BA and MA in philosophy, then
working on a PhD thesis (the latter destined to remain unfinished).
During this period I helped to set up
postgraduate courses in the Philosophy and Ethics of Mental Health; at one time I also taught Business Ethics.
Earlier in my life I worked in the National Health Service in both physical and mental health, as a medical
sales representative, a life insurance salesman, and in retail work, and in industry. |
